Mason County
this page is the homepage for the Olympic Agenda section - Mason County
Mason County encompasses the southern reach of Hood Canal and many bays and inlets of southern Puget Sound. Its residents have been farming, logging and harvesting shellfish since settlers first arrived in the mid 1800’s. The rich cultural heritage of working in the woods and on the waterways is celebrated each year at the Forest Festival in the summer and Oysterfest in the fall. Largely a rural population, Mason County has only one incorporated city, the City of Shelton.
Cascade Land Conservancy is working with Olympic College - Shelton to complete the visioning process for Mason County. Focus group meetings of technical experts in the areas of forestry, farming, water and fisheries, community and economic development and recreation and tourism were completed in the fall of 2008.

Thank you to everyone who attended our public meetings!
Public meetings were held in Belfair and Shelton to report out on focus group findings and get your input on our 100 year vision. We heard lots of great feed back and got a sense of Mason County residents' conservation priorities.
Couldn't make it to the meeting? Fill out our public survey and let us know what your vision is for Mason County!
