Jefferson County

this page will serve as the homepage for the Jefferson County section of the Olympic Agenda

Triton State Park

Jefferson County is in the heart of the Olympic Peninsula, literally dissected by the Olympic National Park in its center.  At the northeast, the county comes to a point at Port Townsend, a town that has long been the center for the arts community on the peninsula.  In the west, the county is covered with temperate rainforest, including the Hoh Rainforest, a very popular destination site within the Olympic National Park.  Its western shores consist of the rocky beaches of the Pacific Ocean.

Cascade Land Conservancy is working with Jefferson Land Trust to complete the visioning process for Jefferson County.  Focus group meetings of technical experts in the areas of forestry, farming, water and fisheries, community and economic development and recreation and tourism were completed in the fall of 2008.  Public meetings were also held to determine what residents wish for their County for the next 100 years.

What is your vision for Jefferson County for the next 100 years?  What would you like to see passed on to future generations?  Fill out our public survey and let us know!
