Clallam County
This is the home page for the Clallam County section of the Olympic Agenda
The Peninsula’s northernmost county, Clallam County, boasts the natural wonders of the Straits of Juan de Fuca, Hurricane Ridge, Neah Bay and Pacific beaches. Its east side lies in a rain shadow created by the Olympic Mountains, and has been recently discovered by retirees and vacationers. The west side is famous for its timber and its healthy Pacific Ocean salmon runs that attract recreational fisherman each year. It has been a resource-based economy for over a century.
Cascade Land Conservancy worked with North Olympic Land
Trust to complete the visioning process for Clallam County
in the Spring of 2009. Public meetings determined what residents wish for their County for the next 100 years.
Focus groups of technical experts in the areas of forestry, farming,
water and fisheries, community and economic development and recreation and
tourism came together to identify the challenges and opportunities for the County.
Now, Clallam County will join with the other Counties on the peninsula to move the Olympic Agenda ahead.
