Smoke Farm

Smoke Farm-treeAcquired in 2004, the Smoke Farm property is 130 acres on the North Fork of the Stilliguamish River.  The entire property is enrolled in the Natural Resource Conservation Service’s (NRCS) Wetland Reserve Program and NRCS is the primary partner in the restoration of the site.

The goal in acquiring this property is to restore the connectivity and complexity of the floodplain to the pre-agricultural conditions.  Plans are underway to remove invasive plants, revegetate with native species and remove the Smoke Farm-riverdike.  Restoration of the historic floodplain habitat will provide direct benefits to six species of salmon, including federally listed Chinook, Coho, and Bull trout as well as Chum, Cutthroat, and Steelhead.
