First-Ever Green Redmond Forest Steward Training Welcomes 15 New Community Leaders
March 16, 2009
We had a fantastic turnout for our first Forest Steward training on Saturday, March 14. Enthusiastic community members from all over Redmond (and some from as far-flung as Mill Creek!) learned about restoration techniques, recruiting neighborhood volunteers, site planning and safety. Many new Stewards connected with others at the same site to work with, and some are already getting started on their first work season! Thanks to everyone who attended the training, and we look forward to supporting you in your valuable work.
Redmond Teens Kick Off 2009 Work Season!
March 9th, 2009
The Redmond Youth Partnership Advisory Committee (RYPAC) organized a fantastic work party on Saturday, March 7th. Energy was high as all 52 volunteers decimated a thick stand of invasive blackberry in Farrel-McWhirter Park. This great work cleared the way for native trees and shrubs to be planted at the site for Arbor Day in April. Thanks to RYPAC and everyone who helped make this possible!
