Be a Restoration Volunteer

Volunteer events generally last about three hours, usually on a Saturday, and are the backbone of our program. Help remove invasive plants that are threatening our forests, plant native trees and shrubs, water, mulch, monitor, and take care of the parks alongside your neighbors. If every Redmond citizen volunteered twice we would accomplish our restoration goals!

Register for any of the events on our schedule, or join one of our amazing Forest Stewards, who are organizing community groups in their local parks around town. No experience is necessary, everyone is welcome, and all tools and materials are provided.

Email us to get connected with an existing neighborhood volunteer group at Hartman, Grass Lawn, Viewpoint, or Westside Parks, or in the Watershed Preserve.

Be a Forest Steward

We rely on a core group of dedicated volunteers who adopt an area of their local park and take on a leadership role. Forest Stewards will receive special trainings, help create restoration plans, and organize volunteer events at their sites. This is a long-term commitment of about 5-10 hours each month.

The annual orientation for new Forest Stewards is coming up this spring! Contact us if you are interested in getting involved at any of the following parks:

  • Idylwood
  • Farrel-McWhirter
  • Juel
  • Grass Lawn
  • . . . or another park you care about!

Be a Youth Steward

We also want to help young people get involved with the Green Redmond Partnership. Youth Stewards will work with project staff to organize restoration events with their schools, clubs, or teams. This can be a small or a large commitment.

Join the Street Team

Outreach is critical at this time in the new Partnership. If you can't make it to a work party, this might be a great way for you to join the effort. We need volunteers to help us get the word out - contacting other volunteers, putting up posters around town, writing editorial pieces to get printed in a local newspaper.

Lend Support Through Your Business

Companies and corporate sponsors play an essential role in helping the Partnership accomplish our restoration goals. Companies of any size can join the Partnership through financial contributions, in-kind donations, by sponsoring a work event, or working with the Partnership to create an employee restoration event. Contact us to explore what opportunities are best suited for your company.

Help Lead Work Parties

Events don't just happen - we need volunteers to help make sure everything is organized and goes smoothly. If you are an energetic person and can be on hand a few times each season to help with registration, tool safety, setup and cleanup, join our team! We'll teach you everything you need to know.

Rally Your Neighborhood

Help your neighbors find out about the great opportunities to get involved. If you are a people-person who enjoys being connected in your community, this is a great role. Visit schools, talk to local businesses, write letters to the paper, network, and help get people excited about the Green Redmond Partnership!
