Additional free native plant training available
The Washington Native Plant Society is offering its highly popular and valuable Native Plant Stewardship course this year for the first time in eight years on the East side! This ten-week training program will be held on Fridays in Bellevue from April 24th through June 26th, and will cover native plants, habitat restoration, and landscaping. In exchange for the free training, participants will use their new skills in volunteer service projects throughout the next year. This program is a great complement to the work of the Green Cities Partnerships.

A ceremony took place on Saturday, June 14, recognizing the efforts of some of our hardest-working partners as Kirkland accepted the Stewardship Legacy Award for the Green Kirkland Partnership. “In recognition of Kirkland and its many volunteers who are dedicated to forested natural areas and leadership in community stewardship, the Cascade Land Conservancy will award the City of Kirkland and its citizens our Stewardship Legacy Award,” said John Floberg, CLC Vice President of Stewardship . To showcase our fantastic momentum, we followed the awards ceremony with a restoration work party at Kiwanis Park.

Boys & Girls Club helps welcome Cotton Hill Park to the Green Kirkland Partnership
Members of the Kirkland Boys & Girls Club who had been learning about forests came out to the Green Kirkland Partnership's newest park on March 12th. We cleared Ivy from native trees in Cotton Hill park; creating "survivor rings" to stop the vines from continuing their spread into the canopy. Enthusiasm was high, and the Partnership was thrilled to welcome these energetic young stewards to our volunteer base
