Location: Snohomish County, near City of Monroe
Acreage: 100.00 acres
Ownership History: Skykomish Habitat, LLC was formed in 2002 by local landowners and a team of mitigation banking and other technical experts. The mitigation bank will provide “credits” to developers and public agencies to serve as compensation for unavoidable impacts to wetlands and other aquatic resources within the bank’s service area, which is contained within the Snohomish River Basin. In 2006, CLC acquired a conservation easement on the property from Skykomish Habitat, LLC and Academy Holdings, LLC.
Property Description: The private wetland mitigation bank is on the lower Skykomish River.
Conservation Values: The Skykomish Habitat Mitigation Bank was designed to reestablish a connection with the Skykomish River through the use of mitigation credits. A series of excavated side channels create a dynamic channel migration zone and a floodplain wetland complex that provide essential habitat to threatened and endangered salmon species.
