Longfellow Creek Greenspace (KG57)

No photo available.

Location: King County, West Seattle neighborhood

Acreage: 0.92 acres

Ownership History:  CLC acquired the Longfellow Creek property in 2006 in partnership with the Seattle Parks Department. The property was placed on the market by the former landowners and SPD requested that CLC purchase and hold the property until funding is available.  SPD is expected to purchase the property from CLC in 2008.

Property Description: The property is located in the Longfellow Creek Greenspace and is surrounded by public property.  For being about four miles away from downtown Seattle, Longfellow Creek is a gem in the emerald city. It's surrounded by more open space than any other creek in Seattle.

Conservation Values: The property protects critical wildlife habitat and expands the already protected Longfellow Creek Greenspace.  The Suquamish called the creek "to-AH-wee," which means trout, and these fish reportedly are still found there.
