Location: King County, near City of Issaquah

Acreage: 15.00 acres

Ownership History: Ruth Kees, longtime advocate for the preservation of the natural beauty of the Issaquah Basin Watershed, sold her property to CLC in 2005. In turn, CLC assigned its rights to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources to be included in the Tiger Mountain Natural Resources Conservation Area (NRCA).

Property Description:  The site contains mature second growth forest as well as a significant portion of a small creek that feeds cool, year-round water into the much larger Issaquah Creek.

Conservation Values: Issaquah Creek frequently suffers de-watering during summer months due to increases in impervious surfaces and extensive well draw-downs. This property serves as an important re-charge area and its preservation prevents further demands on the watershed’s limited water supply. In addition, the site provides important habitat buffers both for the small creek and for the western shoulder of the NRCA.  NRCAs like as Tiger Mountain, selected for their outstanding scenic and ecological values, protect native habitats of endangered, threatened, and sensitive plants and animals.
