Middle Fork Snoqualmie River- Taylor River (KG52)

Location: King County, Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Valley
Acreage: 120.00 acres
Ownership History: This property was the last unprotected land in the upper Middle Fork valley. CLC acquired the property in 2005 and transferred ownership to the U.S. Forest Service.
Property Description: Located one mile upstream from the confluence of the Taylor River and the Middle Fork, the property is unique because it includes both sides of the river. There are several creeks on the property, the largest of which has two beaver dams.
Conservation Values: The land contains over a mile of critical riparian habitat along the riverfront. The low elevation swamps and bottom land forest found on the property have high habitat value and are underrepresented on the generally steeper, higher-elevation lands of the national forest system. Low, wet areas such as this are highly productive and typically support complex food webs. Since they are green early in the spring, they provide an important early-season food resource for bears and hoofed animals.
