Location: King County
Acreage: ~ 90,000.00 acres
Ownership History: King County purchased a conservation easement for the development rights to the Snoqualmie Forest from the Hancock Timber Resources Group. CLC, which helped negotiate the transaction, has worked for years with the county to conserve this most critical component of our Foothills.
Property Description: The Snoqualmie Forest property includes two major rivers (North Fork Snoqualmie and Tolt), numerous smaller rivers, more than 500 acres of lakes and ponds, more than 6,000 acres of riparian areas along rivers and streams, and more than 4,000 acres of wetlands.
Conservation Values: The Snoqualmie Forest is located within the ranges of the northern spotted owl and marbled murrelet, and contains habitat for numerous salmon species and other wildlife. Due to this transaction, the habitat is now under state forest practice rules and will not be fragmented by development.
