Location: King County, near Ravensdale

Acreage: 100.00 acres

Ownership History: This property was part of an agreement between the Pilchuck Audubon Society and Weyerhaeuser as part of the Huckleberry Land Exchange.  Weyerhauser donated the standing timber and sold the property to the Audubon Society, who assigned their rights to CLC for ownership and management in 2002.  CLC in turn sold a conservation easement to King County, creating a partnership to preserve and care for the site permanently.

Property Description: The 100-acre site includes Crow Marsh and lies on the eastern bank of Lake Twelve.  Crow Marsh and Lake Twelve are the headwaters for Rock Creek and are situated on the southern boundary of the Cedar River drainage basin.

Conservation Values: Rock Creek, a salmon-bearing stream, is the single largest source of municipal water for Kent.  Crow Marsh supports a sphagnum bog, cedar-hemlock forests, and open water habitats.  The vegetation has a high proportion of coniferous trees, and is approaching old growth in its structural complexity.  The property also provides habitat for black bear and salmon in the Cedar and Green Rivers.
