Ownership History: This shoreline property was obtained by CLC and the City of Sammamish in 2002.
Property Description: The Beaver Lake Natural Area Preserve includes highly diverse wetlands, a riparian corridor and forested uplands. Beaver Lake feeds Laughing Jacobs Creek, which flows into Lake Sammamish. The Preserve will connect to the Hazel Wolf Wetlands Preserve and Section 36 Park.
Conservation Values: This property is an important wetland system in the center of the Sammamish Plateau. The protected area includes some very large western red cedars and Douglas firs that are approaching old growth stature. Several species of federal concern inhabit this land, including the olive-sided flycatcher, the willow flycatcher, and the northern red-legged frog. Bald eagles are also frequently observed flying and perching on the new preserve.
