Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Oxbow (KG25)

Location: King County, Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Valley
Acreage: 20.00 acres
Ownership History:
CLC acquired the property and transferred ownership to King County in 2001.
Property Description: The Oxbow property includes extensive river frontage along the Middle Fork and is considered a key property for protection.
Conservation Values: The property supports a riparian forest along the river, a 4 to 5 acre cleared meadow, and a mixed conifer/deciduous forest. Grand views of the surrounding mountains are visible from the meadow. There are several pockets of wetland habitat and a small perennial stream that drains through the property into the Middle Fork. Although anadromous salmon do not spawn or rear above Snoqualmie Falls, the Middle Fork supports a valuable non-anadromous salmon fishery of cutthroat and rainbow trout, as well as whitefish. Moreover, the survival of anadromous salmon species in the lower watershed depends to a large degree upon the condition of the upper Snoqualmie system.
