Location: King County, Fremont neighborhood in Seattle
Acreage: 0.10 acres
Ownership History: The former vacant lot was leased from owners and made into Whirled Peas P-Patch. With help from CLC, the property was acquired for a neighborhood garden by Friends of P-Patch in 1999.
Property Description: The Fremont P-Patch is a community garden located in the dense urban Fremont neighborhood.
Conservation Values: The community garden is a valuable space for Seattle residents. Special programs serve low-income, disabled, and youth gardeners as well as non-English speaking populations. The gardeners donate over 400 pounds of fresh produce to the local food bank every year. In addition to fruit trees and one plot dedicated to food bank produce, the gardeners create a shade bed with flowers at their front steps and a flowers-and-herbs bed next to their compost bins.
