No photo credit available
Location: King County, north Lake Washington
Acreage: 6.00 acres
Ownership History: CLC acquired this land via a donation in memory of Susan MacDonald from her family in 1998.
Property Description: The memorial preserve sits between Big Finn Hill Park, owned by King County, and O.O. Denny Park, owned by the City of Seattle. Big Finn Hill Park also abuts St. Edwards Park, owned by the State of Washington. It includes an undeveloped road right-of-way that has been historically used as a trail corridor connecting to other trails within the parks, and the extensive trail system that traverses the entire park system draws visitors from throughout the region.
Conservation Values: Preservation of this forested property represents a significant opportunity to protect high quality habitat and to create and manage a network of trails adjacent to several existing properties. This property is densely vegetated with mature second-growth forest. The canopy of this forest consists of western hemlock, bigleaf maple, Douglas fir and red alder, while the understory includes red flowering currant, salmonberry, huckleberry, red elderberry, Indian plum, sword fern and Oregon grape.
