Location: King County, Madrona neighborhood of the City of Seattle
Acreage: 0.33 acres
Ownership History: CLC set up a conservation easement with a private landowner in 1992. Ownership of the land transferred to Lake Washington Cottages Condominium Association in 1993.
Property Description: CLC acquired a conservation easement on this 1/3 acre urban property to assure that it would be retained forever in its natural and open space condition. It is situated at the mouth of a small, east-west ravine on the banks of Lake Washington. The Lake Washington Cottages property provides green space within a densely developed urban neighborhood.
Conservation Values: This site acts as a buffer between the residential areas and Lake Washington. The mature woodland on site is comprised of pacific madrone, bigleaf maple, and Douglas fir trees with several native shrubs in the understory. The Lake Washington Cottage Association and community members are taking part in restoration efforts on the property, such as English ivy removal.
