Washington Women's Foundation Awards Grant to Conservancy

Washington Women’s Foundation (WWF) has awarded a grant to Cascade Land Conservancy in the amount of $87,500 for our Community Stewards Program, bringing the Cascade Agenda Campaign raised-to date-to $16.7 million.

On June 17th, grants were awarded to five local nonprofit organizations totaling $475,000, including Northwest African American Museum, College Access Now, King County Sexual Assault Resource Center, The Mockingbird Society, and Cascade Land Conservancy. Pooled grants were awarded in each of the foundation’s five giving areas – arts and culture, education, environment, health and human services.

As part of the Cascade Agenda, the Community Stewards Program will train citizen leaders to take a more proactive role in their community, advocating for smart growth policies which will ultimately make our cities more healthy and livable. This program will ensure that Cascade Land Conservancy reaches our dual goals of protecting over 1 million acres and creating more vibrant communities. And, as our population continues to grow, it is more important than ever that we make smart choices and use innovative methods to face this challenge.

Washington Women’s Foundation’s process is highly competitive and rigorous. After review by committees and site visits, the finalists selected are voted by the Foundation’s 500 members. This is a true testament to the community of the Cascade Agenda, and an honor to receive the grant.
