Join us for a two-day effort to educate campers and improve salmon habitat in the Teanaway.

The Teanaway watershed is one of the region's most beautiful destinations for camping, hiking, and fun in the river.  It's also critical habitat for salmon runs, who have difficulty navigating rock dams constructed by campers and swimmers unaware of their imacts.

On Labor Day a team will set up a camp in the North Fork Teanaway watershed.  In the afternoon we intend to contact campers along the creek and discuss fish-friendly camping.  We will be low-key and not intrusive.  If time permits and if it's not disruptive to the campers, we may also dismantle some rec dams. On Tuesday we will focus on finding and removing dams.

Last year these dams were numerous.  We'd appreciate your help.  The more people we have the more areas we can cover, especially on Tuesday when we will be wading and trying to cover as much ground as we can.  We might be able to cover some tributaries like Stafford or Beverly Creeks if we have enough people.

To register or ask questions, contact Kelly Larimer at (509) 933-1210 or kelly.ykfp@elltel.net.

This event is co-sponsored by United States Fish and Wildlife and the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation.
