Celebration & Hike in the
Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie!
NOTE: This event is now full! Hope to see you at a future event.
When: Saturday, May 31st, 2008
Where: Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Valley
RSVP: This event is full.
Directions:
We'll meet at the picnic shelter in the Middle Fork Campground located at the Mt. Baker - Snoqualmie National Forest:
I-90 to North Bend.
Take Exit #34 from I-90.
Drive north on 468th Avenue.
In 0.6 miles, turn right onto SE Middle Fork Road. In less than 1 mile the road splits - take the left fork and continue to the stop sign in front of Valley Camp.
Go left and drive approximately 10 miles (will take about 35 minutes due to pot holes in the road). Park in the Middle Fork Trail Trailhead Parking Lot on FS Road #56. Staff will direct you to the registration area, a short walk by the Campground.
Why: The event will celebrate our conservation and
restoration successes at the Middle Fork and showcase the history and characteristics of the area through guided hikes, a family friendly activity, and a cookout. We hope that you will join us for some fun and exploration at the Middle Fork – an area that your support to CLC has helped conserve and restore for public use.
About the Area: The 110,000-acre Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Valley is one of King County’s truly wild places, with old-growth forests, alpine lakes, whitewater rivers and strong native trout runs. For the past two decades, an effort to protect and restore the valley has been underway which was sparked by a small group of activists and then supported by Cascade Land Conservancy and numerous other partners. We have all made great progress toward protecting this regional treasure and “taking it back” for the public.
This event will celebrate the acquisition of thousands of acres of privately owned forest land (98 percent of the valley is now publicly owned), and all of the hard work that has gone in to its ongoing stewardship.
Schedule for the Day:
9:30am: Check-in begins
10:00am: Hikes and restoration event begin
2:00pm: Cook-out & Celebration begins
