Join Volunteers for a fun
day at Log Cabin Reach!
Join volunteers at Log Cabin Reach on June 14 for a day of restoration work at this beautiful property along Issaquah Creek.
What to bring:
Boots, work clothes, gloves, rain gear, and a water bottle. Snacks, drinks, and tools provided
About the site:
Log Cabin Reach is a 118-acre site that stands out in the Issaquah Creek basin for its high quality stream habitat. Chinook, coho and sockeye salmon as well as cutthroat and steelhead tout are present in Issaquah Creek. A designated wildlife corridor along Issaquah Creek connects the site with the Cedar River Watershed and Taylor Mountain to the southeast, Tiger Mountain to the east, and Squak and Cougar Mountains to the north and northwest.
The site supports open fields with a large wetland area rising to a high grassy hill. There is a healthy riparian corridor dominated by deciduous trees and shrubs, and a mature conifer forest on the hillside above. The size and variety of habitats lend this site particular importance in a landscape characterized by rural residential development. This site is of a size that may support large mammals such as bear, as well as a diversity of birds, smaller mammals, and other wildlife.
Directions to the site:
- Take I-90 E to the Front Street exit (exit 17) in Issaquah
- Turn right off of the exit ramp towards City Center.
- Follow Front St., which becomes Issaquah-Hobart Rd., for approximately 5 miles.
- Take a right on Cedar Grove Rd., which is at the stop light just after you see the Tiger Mountain Store on your right.
- Go 0.3 miles down Cedar Grove Rd. and turn right into the opening in the guardrail that starts as the road curves to the left (it’s a small gravel road).
For additional information or to RSVP please email volunteer@cascadeland.org.
This project is great for a large group and for service learning hours.
