When: July 19 from 10 am - 1 pm
Where: Hazel Wolf Wetland Preserve (directions below)
What to bring: Boots, work clothes, rain gear, and a water bottle. Snacks and drinks provided.
About the Property:
The Hazel Wolf Wetlands Preserve is a pristine wetland wildlife refuge in King County. The preserve's 116 acres contain several different wetland and forest habitats. The Hazel Wolf Wetlands are key to a network of protected habitats stretching from the Issaquah Alps to Lake Sammamish. This biologically rich area was preserved in 1995 thanks to the cooperative efforts of concerned citizens, progressive corporations, county government and Cascade Land Conservancy. The area is heavily used by local residents and also used weekly as a field laboratory for local high school students.
Directions (From I-90):
- Take Exit 15 (Lake Sammamish State Park) in Issaquah
- From the off ramp, head north onto 17th Ave NW. Stay on the main street as it curves east and becomes NW Sammamish Rd.
- About 2 miles from the off ramp, turn left onto E. Lake Sammamish Pkwy SE
- At 2.3 miles from the off ramp, turn right onto SE 43rd Way, which becomes 228th Ave SE
- Approximately 5.8 miles from the off ramp, turn right onto SE 8th St (Skyline Highschool is on SE corner)
- Almost 7 miles from the off ramp, turn right at the Windsor Greens entrance onto SE Windsor Blvd.
- Continue on SE Windsor Blvd. just past where Windsor Drive SE comes in on your left. Park under the powerlines in the pull-off to the left. Please do not block the entrance to the trail and park away from the residences.
