Morse Wildlife Preserve
Morse Wildlife Preserve
The
Morse Wildlife Preserve was established by a donation of land from
Lloyd and Maxine Morse. Situated at the headwaters of the north fork of
Muck Creek, the preserve is a mosaic of forests, wetlands, meadow and
remnant prairie. Jointly managed with Tahoma Audubon Society, the
preserve is home to a variety of birds and wildlife.
Originally 53 acres, the preserve expanded by 45 acres in 2001, thanks to the foresight of the landowner and the generosity of an anonymous donor. CLC acquired an adjacent property that includes a portion of Muck Creek and a high-quality forested wetland, a diminishing resource in Pierce County.
