Mason County’s first Preserve Dedication
CLC’s first nature preserve in Mason County was recently dedicated to the legacy of Irene Davis, one of North Mason’s most well known historians and conservationists. The newly acquired 57-acre Irene Davis Union River Preserve will forever preserve critical habitat for interior forest birds, salmon, trout, and the
occasional bear that visits the overgrown orchard associated with the old homestead. CLC will be restoring the old fields and orchard to forest in the coming years with local volunteers and conservation partners.
