Swamp Lake

Swamp Lake, a three hundred acre property near Snoqualmie Pass, has been conserved permanently through a partnership of three lead Washington land conservation organizations: CLC, Trust for Public Land, and the Washington Department of Natural Resources.

This land, at the foot of Amabilis Mountain, protects one of the best remaining habitat links for the north-south movement of wildlife in the Cascade Range.  Swamp Lake was threatened by development plans that would have continued to fracture dwindling wildlife corridors.  The Gray Wolf, Spotted Owl, Grizzly Bear, and Canada Lynx are some of the species whose habitats were protected as a result of this agreement.  Another benefit of the Swamp Lake  property is the trail system that has long been used for cross country skiing in the winter.

The three groups, CLC, TPL, and DNR, joined forces to protect this land using federal funds granted by the US Fish and Wildlife Service from the Federal Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund, also called a Section 6 grant.  CLC was also provided a stewardship endowment from the Trust for Public Lands in order to protect the property in perpetuity.
