Gladmar
Gladmar is a unique island property, surrounded by three channels of the Yakima River, located in Thorp, WA. Recently, Central Washington University and CLC partnered to secure an interagency agreement on this 45 acre island that is owned by Kittitas County.

Gladmar was originally a park, but in 1996 a large flood destroyed all access to the area. One of the goals of this project would be to restore public acess in order to reopen the area as a park.
The other main objective in obtaining this property is to create a biological laboratory for CWU students. Currently, CWU has no land set aside for field research, and the Gladmar island will provide many learning opportunities for students and community members. This project is a great way to study how environments recover from flood disturbances.
In the proposed Interagency agreement, Kittitas County will retain ownership while CWU maintains a 50 year lease on the land. CLC will assist in planning, restoration, and stewardship.
