County Snapshot
King is the most urban of the counties in our region with more than 1.5 million residents. CLC is working hard to conserve the remaining natural areas- from high in the cascades to small natural areas and parks in cities.
King County Protected Lands Map
Wild and Scenic Lands
Although the County contains most of the Seattle greater metropolitan area, there still remains tremendous wild and scenic areas in the cascade mountains.
CLC is working with the County, State and Federal agencies to conserve the remaining inholdings of private land. See our continuing work in the Mid Fork Snoqualmie River Valley.
In addition, we work with developers to find creative win-win solutions for businesses and the public. See how we protected land around Snoqualmie Falls.
Working Forests
CLC also has an active and successful working forest conservation program. See how we helped to conserve the 90,000 acre Snoqualmie Tree Farm.
Parks and Open Spaces
CLC is working closely with cities and King County to provide people with parks, trails and open spaces in their own neighborhoods. The East Lake Sammamish Trail, for example, is an 11 mile recreational trail runing along Lake Sammamish and connecting Lake Sammamish State Park at the south end with King County's Marymoor Park at the north end.
