Skip Swenson
Skip Swenson works throughout the central Cascades and Olympic Peninsula regions of Washington State to develop and implement market-based policies aiming to expand conservation and enrich communities. Much of Skip’s time is devoted to the development of Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) programs at both the local and regional scale. In addition to his portfolio for CLC, Skip was a member of the state Technical Advisory Committee and a sitting alternate on the Policy Advisory Committee that advised the development of Washington’s 2009 Regional Transfer of Development Rights Program legislation
—which created a framework for inter-jurisdictional transfers of development rights in a four-county area representing nearly 6,300 square miles.
Skip holds master’s degrees in public policy and forest resources from the University of Washington, where his studies focused on environmental policy, land planning, and natural resources management. He also holds an undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin—Madison. Prior to joining CLC, Skip served as Director of Analytics and Western Region Testing Services Manager for Information Resources, Inc. (now SymphonyIRI Group), a multinational research and consulting company.
When he’s not reading or tinkering, Skip can often be found backcountry skiing and mountaineering throughout the Cascades.
