Position: Stewardship Engagement Coordinator
Reports to: Green Cities Program Director
Location: Seattle, WA
Position Type: Class III, Full-Time, Salary-exempt
Salary: Up to $40,000, D.O.E.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have a social science background, experience with developing and implementing research projects, experience with volunteer- or community-based programs, analytical skills, and excellent communication and writing skills. Experience in the natural resources field is preferred, but not required.

Summary of Position:
The Stewardship Engagement Coordinator will work with University of Washington and US Forest Service scientists to design, implement, and disseminate results from a research project related to measuring motivations associated with community-based stewardship activities. The current project is a 2-year, federally-funded project between Cascade Land Conservancy, King County, the USDA Forest Service, the University of Washington, and other partners.
Specific Duties:
1. Serve as key staff in the design and implementation of a research project related to measuring motivations associated with community-based stewardship activities.
2. Work with partners to investigate and assemble current data and metrics on community-based stewardship activities and assess usefulness in measuring motivations.
3. Assist with development of new measures and assessments.
4. Organize project partners and volunteers in research data collection methodologies.
5. Analyze data and prepare best management practices report and project dissemination materials, in cooperation with project partners.
6. Pursue additional project needs as requested.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, natural resources, and/or environmental policy/affairs or related field and 2+ years of experience. Advanced degree may be substituted for experience. Master’s degree preferred.
2. Experience leading or coordinating community-based programs.
3. Experience with volunteer management software and/or tracking systems.
4. Proficient with database design and maintenance.
5. Experience writing summary reports and disseminating information for a wide variety of audiences.
6. Experience designing and implementing field- and/or community-based research project (site selection, sampling, data collection, methodology, etc.).
7. Ability to train others in field data collection and analysis processes.
8. Demonstrates resourcefulness and strong problem-solving skills.
9. Ability to organize and manage diverse activities and set priorities.
10. Flexible and able to work well under pressure, with limited direct supervision.
11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including successful proposal and report writing experience.
12. Ability to develop a positive working relationship with a variety of stakeholders including landowners, elected officials, community supporters, staff, and volunteers. Successful experience working independently and in groups in both office and field settings.
13. Ability to work some non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends (with comp time).
14. Ability to work under physically demanding conditions, including cold and wet weather.
15. Valid, insurable drivers license/record.
